<p>Installation of zFTPServer is simple, straightforward and is simply the administrators dream. Installation is orderly carried out in a step-by-step guided installation procedure. <h3>Run your FTP server as a system service or as an application.</h3>
<p>In zFTPServer users have the option of running the FTP as a windows system service or as a windows application. zFTPserver is completely registry free in application mode and can then provide users with activity information through a tray icon for easy access. Running the FTP server as a system service requires registering it in the windows registry however with a minimal footprint. Users also have he option of manually setting startup options.</p>
<h3>Remote administration of one or several corporate or home servers</h3>
<p>To minimize memory usage, optimize performance and maximize flexibility zFTPServer includes two separate parts. The server part provides customizable FTP Server functionality, while zFTPServer Administration is used to easily configure and manage server setup. Administering the server is done by connecting either to to localhost or to an IP adress using a configurable administration port. The solution means multiple corporate FTP Servers or home FTP servers can be configured and managed locally or remote. The remote administration program furthermore runs completely separate from the server part but, while connected to zFTP server also enables detailed real time logs either directly in window mode or using changeable icons while minimized to the tray.</p>

The ability to execute external batch scripts also makes it possible to launch custom programs, scripts or to perform specific actions based on actual events.
Have zFTPServer notify users or initiate actions when events occur using powerful scripting facilities! This extension allows zFTPServer to enforce user scriptable rules and policies such as virus checks on uploaded files, automatically transform between file formats, and to send notifications about special events.</p>
<h2>Events and Messages : Proactive</h2>
<p>Have zFTPServer react to events before they happen! With this extension you can specify before-scripts that limits access based on date/time, downloaded files or even information stored in external databases. Together with "Reactive" you have a full-fledged Integration Server. Your imagination is the limit! The Proactive extensions essentially lets the server react to events before they happen. Following a request to e.g. login or upload a file the server can for instance verify login or upload operations against external databases or check whether the user is permitted to upload a file of that specific type. We can for instance enforce that a specific user only be able to upload .doc-files. In combination with the Reactive module we can script more advanced business applications rules verifying a user login against a SAP database and subsequently when the user is allowed to login, run scripts that execute financial reporting in SAP, directly posted and available to the specific user on the fly (reports are then automatically removed after logout).</p>

Even though is supports users and administrators we have not spared any resources at providing best-of-breed solutions, top performance and all the advanced features you would normally only expect in high end corporate FTP server software. All of the easily configured features below are free and available from start in any installation of zFTPServer. We however encourage our users to buy our extensions since they finance at least some of our development effort for the free FTP server functionalities. zFTPServer is freeware and it will continue to be free. Keep on the lookout however, as we continue to develop maintain, extend and improve the server continously.</p>
